Planning engagement activities for science festivals

• First, it is an exhortation for scientists from smaller or less well-known fields to participate in festivals in order to increase public appreciation of the breadth of scientific study.
• Second, we offer practical advice on how to design and run festival activities for scientists who are interested in participating in festivals.
