The international seminar Young people and science was held in Brasilia (Brazil) from 30th October to 4th November, 2012. The seminar, organized by the Federal University of São Paulo and Observa Science in Society, involved Italian and Brazilian researchers and teachers.
Nelio Bizzo (University of São Paulo) was the coordinator of the seminar, which was divided into three parts. In the first part, Giuseppe Pellegrini (Observa’s scientific committee) presented the relationship between young people and science in Italy. In the second part, the Brazilian results from the international survey ROSE were analyzed and compared with data from other countries.
The third part of the seminar was given up to the theoretical and methodological discussion on the establishment of a Brazil-Italy Barometer, dedicated to the study of young people’s attitudes towards science and technology, in order to make a comparison between the two countries.
