In Venice, in occasion of the World Science Day for Peace and Development, organized by UNESCO, Observa’s most recent publications will be presented, Women and Science 2010. Italy and the International Context and Science and New Generations (Scienza e nuove generazioni. I risultati dell’indagine internazionale ROSE) .
Edited by Iulia Nechifor and Giuseppe Pellegrini, Women and Science 2010. Italy and the International Context is a new collection of data and information on the presence of women in research and public attitudes to gender issues in science in Italy and in Europe.
The book Science and New Generations, edited by Federico Neresini, Stefania Crovato and Barbara Saracino, deals with the results of ROSE – Relevance of Science Education, an international comparative research project meant to shed light on factors of importance to the learning of science and technology (S&T) – as perceived by the learners, specifically by students towards the end of secondary school (age 15).
The presentation of the books takes place in Venice on the occasion of the World Science Day for Peace and Development. Established by UNESCO in 2001, the WSDPD is celebrated on 10 November each year. The Day is an occasion to strengthen public awareness on the role of science for peaceful and sustainable societies and to renew national and international commitment for the use of science for the benefit of societies.
