The call for proposals for the XII International Public Communication of Science and Technology (PCST) Conference, which will be held in Florence from the 18th to the 20th of April, 2012, is now online.
The PCST International Network and the Italian conference hosts invites you to submit proposals for presentations on following themes: science communication and science in society research, science journalism, science museums, public engagement with science and technology and communication activities by research institutions.
The deadline for proposals has been extended until October 14th, 2011. Submitted proposals will be reviewed by members of PCST Scientific Committee, and the final programme will be announced in January 2012.
Plenary speeches will be delivered by leading international experts in science communication research and practice. The official language of the conference is English.
Plenary Speakers will include: Piero Angela (RAI, Italian Public TV), Felice Frankel (MIT), Helga Nowotny (President, European Research Council), Semir Zeki (University College London), Martin W. Bauer (LSE, editor of journal Public Understanding of Science), John Durant (MIT Museum of Science), Edna Einsiedel (University of Calgary), Bruce V. Lewenstein (Cornell University).
Plenary roundtable sessions themes will include: Ethics of Science Communication; Past, Present and Future of Academic Publishing in Public Understanding of Science and Public Communication of Science; Research Agendas for the Future.
