The outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, has produced various reactions from governments around the world and their relationship with scientists, highlighting interesting implications in terms of the role and public image. The contribution describes how usually a risk communication in a crisis period is developed and how the politicians and the experts are perceived by the public. This way it is possible to analyse how values and beliefs are entangled in the science involved in risk assessment using data coming from a survey that involved, in two waves during the pandemic, a representative sample of Italian citizens.
